ABOUT ME:

I am an education student at Medicine Hat College. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I always found myself playing school with my cousins or pretending to decorate and organize my classroom.

I have volunteered at daycares and hosted birthday parties at my old cheerleading facility. These provided me with experience in different settings, and with a variety of ages. Recently, I have started tutoring students as well. I participate in cheerleading and also coach the U8 team. I have had practicums in grade 2, 3, 4 and 4/5 split classrooms since starting my teaching journey.

In previous summer months, I have worked at summer camps, while this most recent summer I have been working as a daycare teacher which has taught me many things that will be useful in my future. â€‹

When I'm not working or doing school, I love spending my time with friends and family. I love camping, concerts, and going on road trips! In the colder months, I love snuggling up with my cat, Piper while watching Netflix! My family has had a great influence on my teaching career, and I wouldn't be where I am today without them.

Having siblings significantly younger than me has also benefited my learning in education classes. I have been able to see the content first-hand as my siblings go through school. Especially my youngest brother, as he struggles with Apraxia, which makes it difficult for him to communicate. Watching him thrive despite his learning differences inspires me to continue on my journey, to help many other students like him succeed in the classroom.
