Engaging In Career Long Learning

A teacher engages in career-long professional

learning and ongoing critical reflection to

improve teaching and learning.

Collaborating with other teachers to build personal and collective professional capacities and expertise; In my 3rd year practicum, I worked alongside one of my classmates teaching the partnering class to plan gym lessons for both of our classes.

Actively seeking out feedback to enhance teaching practice; I have received feedback from my mentor teacher's on every lesson I have taught. Their feedback is extremely important when it comes to building my teaching identity and classroom management.

Pictured is feedback that me and my classmate received from two of our gym lessons.

These lessons were some of our strongest, we had been working really hard to build from the feedback we had been given previously.

Seeking, critically reviewing and applying

educational research to improve practice; I have used the things learned in the classroom, and practicum to apply to my future classroom.

I used my own research to develop a better understanding and create an outline to follow in my future practice.

Building capacity to support student success in inclusive, welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments; I have learned the importance of creating lessons that support student success and teacher success.

I used internal links to make it easy to use for students, as well as including teacher notes for my future self, or other teachers to use in class.

Maintaining an awareness of emerging technologies to enhance knowledge and inform practice; In EDTS 325, I learned about many different online tools to incorporate into the classroom.

Enhancing understanding of First Nations, Métis and Inuit worldviews, cultural beliefs, languages and values; In EDUC 4351, we spent lots of time with Indigenous resources to understand the importance of incorporating them into our future classrooms.
